Individual and Group Garden Volunteers
Olmsted Garden Restoration and Repurposing
Group volunteers will assist with hands-on restoration work in the Olmsted Asian Garden, including invasive species removal, site clearing for future pathways, planting areas, and supporting new biodiversity areas. This project, at the time of design, contained 198 taxa of plants. In the 84 years between the death of Elm Bank’s original owners and the beginning of this project, a few of these selections have become invasive or aggressive in the wetland surrounding the garden and canal, creating a need for significant historic and ecological restoration. https://www.masshort.org/olmsted-restoration
