YOU did this!

YOU did this!

Three weeks ago, we took a break from our usual morning email to talk about an impending financial crisis facing this chamber.

We noted that one-third of our 2020 operating budget was dependent upon revenue from events that have been cancelled, or put on hold. Our dues revenue was dropping too, as some members sought to regain their financial footing.

All told, we were projecting that the chamber could end 2020 as much as $75,000 in the red.

This morning we’re proud to report that -- thanks to your generosity -- we’ve decimated that gap! In fact, we exceeded our goal, raising just under $100,000. During our appeal we also gained 31 new members and 43 new citizen members (individuals who are not directly affiliated with a business but share our mission).

We expected it would take us several months to close our deficit. The fact that so many of you – from our largest employers to sole proprietors and individuals – came forward even as you faced your own financial insecurity, was gratifying and deeply appreciated.

Thanks to your support, we’re confident that we’ll be able to keep our remarkable chamber team on board and continue our advocacy and programming for the rest of this year (with a cushion to help us into the start of what could be a challenging 2021 for many businesses and nonprofits).

We’re still in the early innings of the COVID-19 crisis. Reopening safely and rebuilding our economy will require vigilance. And we have a lot of work to do together building a more welcoming, more inclusive and more diverse workplace, workforce and community.

Your chamber is committed to standing with the businesses and nonprofits that make our communities special. Thanks to the businesses and individuals listed below for making our work possible.
