Wells Park entry to undergo redesign

The City of Newton is investing more than $2 million to reengineer Nahanton Street from the Charles River/Needham line to Winchester Street, including the entry to the Wells Ave. office park in the N2 Innovation District. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2019.

“The goal of the project is to improve traffic flow, safety and accessibility -- not just for cars but for cyclists, pedestrians and shuttles too,” said Chamber President Greg Reibman. “We look forward to collaborating with the city and the property owners on improving access to this important neighborhood of the N2 Innovation District.”

There will be opportunities along the way for stakeholders to provide input into the design, which is slated to be completed by next spring, Reibman said.

The chamber is also lobbying City Hall to invest in a separate study looking into a possible second access into Wells. Ave., including one that would potentially connect direct to Dedham Street.
