Tournament to benefit Family Access
Family ACCESS, a Newton-based nonprofit that nurtures child development, promotes effective parenting skills and supports thousands of families in Newton, Needham and surrounding communities, will be the beneficiary of the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce’s 25th annual Children’s Charitable golf tournament.
This year’s tournament takes place Monday, Aug. 1 at Woodland Golf Club and is sold out.
Each year, the Chamber selects a different area nonprofit whose mission includes working with children to be the recipient of a portion of the tournament’s proceeds. The selection is made by the Newton-Needham Chamber’s Golf Committee, which organizes the annual event
“Family ACCESS is honored that we have been selected as this year’s Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s golf tournament charity recipient,” said Family ACCESS Executive Director Jon Firger. “We are very pleased that our local business partners recognize and support the critical services we provide for children and families in our community.”
“We’re very fortunate to have Family Access serving the Newton, Needham and many surrounding communities,” said Walter F. Tennant, chairman of the golf committee and the chamber’s treasurer. “The committee was eager to partner with them in support of the tremendous programming and services they provide to the children who have witnessed the abuse of a parent.”
Chamber President Greg Reibman also announced that The Village Bank has once again partnered with the Chamber as the tournament’s primary sponsor.
“The Village Bank has been an active Chamber sponsor for more than a half-century,” Reibman said. “We are especially grateful to Joe De Vito and his entire team at The Village Bank for all they do for our community.”
The Residences at Wingate and Beth Israel Hospital Needham returns this year as the tournament’s Silver Sponsors. Additional sponsors include Eastern Bank, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, RL Tennant Insurance and NewTV.
The 25th Annual Children’s Charitable Golf Tournament takes place Monday, Aug. 1 at Woodland Golf Club, 1897 Washington St. in Newton. Lunch and registration begins at 11 a.m., 12:30 shotgun.
