Street Fair returns to Needham June 1
Preparations are under way for the annual Spring Street Fair, Saturday June 1 from 10-2 p.m. on the Needham Town Common. Again presented by Needham Bank, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham and Briarwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, more than 80 businesses, home entrepreneurs, and nonprofit & community organizations have already reserved their tables.
“The Spring Street Fair is one of the premier events of each year for our community,” says Eric Morse, executive vice president of Needham Bank. “It’s one of those quintessential Needham events bringing the local merchants together with the many families supporting them. For many of us, it marks the changing of the season, so we see many, many customers out and about. It’s really our privilege to sponsor the fair.”
As in years past, there’ll be lots to do for families and kids. Louise Condon Realty will once again be providing trolley rides around a Needham Center loop and Coldwell Banker will be hosting pony rides in the parking lot adjacent to Town Hall. Always a huge hit, the Charles River YMCA will be front & center with its bouncy house along Great Plain and the DPW will bring out its work vehicles for the ever-popular Touch-the-Trucks section. Not to be outdone, Needham police and fire will also have a fire engine and police motorcycle on display.
Last year’s very popular Chapel Street food court will also be back. Hearth, Gari Japanese Fusion Bistro, Masala Art, Abbott’s, The James and Needham newcomer Cappella’s will be providing food and refreshments.
Residents can stroll through the rows of tables and tents and enjoy free giveaways and special treats, face painting and caricature artists; get their pictures taken courtesy of Brookline Bank; and pick up a bag of popcorn at Direct Federal Credit Union’s old-fashion popcorn cart.
Needham member businesses and community organizations will gather on the Town Common to build awareness, showcase their goods and services and reach out to new and old customers. Confirmed entertainment includes live music from Jam Sandwich and dancers from Total Eclipse. A few surprises are also sure to keep fair guests entertained throughout the day.
Additional sponsors include Middlesex Savings Bank and Dedham Savings Bank.
