Needham Harvest Fair returns Sunday Oct. 6


The Needham Harvest Fair, one of two annual community-wide festivals organized by the chamber in Needham Center will be returning to the Town Common on Sun. Oct. 6.

Expected to draw thousands of fairgoers from Needham and beyond, close to 100 business and nonprofit booths will line the common to showcase their organizations, meet local residents and provide family friendly entertainment. Many of the exhibitors will offer free giveaways or raffles at their tables.

Presented by Needham BankBeth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham and Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, the fair will again host merchant and food vendors, hands-on family activities, trolley rides, a pumpkin patch and other seasonal treats and attractions. Additionally, for the second straight year, the event will coincide with the Needham Farmers Market, which sets up each week between Memorial Day until Thanksgiving on Garrity’s Way in front of Town Hall.

Among exhibitors already confirmed are some of Needham Center’s newest businesses. Tin Rabbit, which opened on Chapel Street last year, will display their eclectic selection of home décor and gift items. Proud Mary (a new addition to Great Plain Ave) will also have a booth, filled with unique accessories and gifts to show off Needham hometown spirit. PEX Health & Fitness, newly opened in the former Taylor’s Stationary space on Highland Ave, will be showcasing their studio and training programs.

Local nonprofits view the day as an invaluable opportunity to connect with residents and spread awareness about the work they do in the community. At the time of this writing, the Needham Community TheatreLibrary Foundation of Needham, the Needham History Center and MuseumRotary Club of Needham, the American Legion, League of Women VotersCharles River YMCANeedham Youth and Family Services, the Domestic Violence Action CommitteeGreen Needham Collaborative, PluggedIn Band Program and Mothers Out Front had all signed on to exhibit.

There will also be a food court for hungry attendees on Chapel Street. Hearth Pizzeria and Abbot’s Frozen Custard are among the first Needham restaurants to sign up for their spots.

Finally, there’ll be loads to keep kids entertained through the day, including the ever-popular bouncy house run by the Charles River YMCA. Condon Realty will have lots of pumpkins in their free pumpkin patch.
