Needham Harvest Fair moves to Sunday this fall
The Needham Harvest Fair will be returning to the Town Common this year but will move to Sunday, Sept. 30 in order to partner for the first time with the Needham Farmers Market, which sets up each week between Memorial Day until Thanksgiving on Garrity’s Way in front of Town Hall.
As with Needham’s Spring Street Fair, the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber has taken over the operation of the fall fair following its merger with the Needham Business Association earlier this year.
Presented by Needham Bank, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham and Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, the fair will again host merchant and food vendors, hands-on family activities, trolley rides, a pumpkin patch and other seasonal treats and attractions.
“With the built-in synergy between a farmers market and a harvest fair it only made sense to bring our two organizations together for one big autumnal celebration,” said Chamber President Greg Reibman. “We also thought it would be a great way to make sure the community experiences many of the market vendors they can find in Needham Center each Sunday.”
The Needham Farmers Market is hoping to introduce many new customers to its weekly ever-changing offerings of fresh seasonal produce and local artisan crafts and gifts.
“We’re excited to have the Harvest Fair happening on a Sunday this year. We look forward to sharing the Common and welcoming families and residents,” says Jeff Friedman, president of NFM.
“As always, the market will have a full variety of food vendors for the public to choose from," he added.
Condon Realty will once again be filling the Town Common with 1,000 free pumpkins and providing the trolley for loops around Needham center. Local merchants, businesses and nonprofits from across Needham will gather to build community awareness about their organizations and showcase their goods and services. Many of the exhibitors will offer free giveaways and have special treats at their tables.
There will also be a food court for hungry attendees. Gari Japanese Fusion Bistro, Hearth Pizzeria and Abbot’s Frozen Custard are the first of Needham restaurants to sign up for their spots.
And with the fair happening just over one month before Election Day, many elected officials and political candidates are expected as well.
