After 21 years at the organization, Mark Sokoll, President and CEO of JCC Greater Boston, has announced his retirement.

A respected leader in the Jewish community for over 30 years, Sokoll’s commitment and partnerships have led to achievements such as a nationally recognized model of family engagement, a $20 million capital campaign at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton, MA, and historic growth of a regionalized JCC model serving over 98 towns across Greater Boston.

Sokoll announced he is stepping down on March 4 at JCC Greater Boston’s annual gala.

“In July of 2021, I will conclude the privilege of leading this special organization for 21 years as your CEO/President. Your friendship, and partnership continue to be immeasurable gifts to our JCC, and to me. To honor the amazing staff I’ve had the privilege of working alongside every day, I am launching a new JCC Fund for the Future, an embodiment of the legacy I hope to leave for the future of this JCC. The fund will be used to invest in the professional growth and development of our staff. They teach, mentor and support tens of thousands of families in our camps, preschools, fitness, adult wellness and family engagement programs every year. These incredible professionals continue to be the best assurance we all have for a vibrant future for this JCC and our community.”

Sokoll is also vice chair of the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s Board of Directors.
