Other collegiate entrepreneurs to showcase their work and progress

The N2 Innovation District will play host to Innovate 128, an event to showcase the burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem happening at the colleges and universities in Boston’s inner western suburbs. The event, scheduled for Thurs. Feb. 7, will feature a rocket pitch competition as well as a showcase of the businesses emerging here.

Innovate 128 is designed to bring together startups emerging from programs at ten colleges and universities that dot the area, including Babson CollegeBoston CollegeBrandeis UniversityFramingham StateLasell CollegeMass Bay Community CollegeOlin College of EngineeringRegis CollegeUMass Amherst Mt. Ida Campus, and Wellesley College.

“Route 128 was once known for technological innovation, and that hasn’t changed. The difference today is that the innovation is happening in smaller pockets, often on college campuses,” said Chuck Tanowitz, director of the N2 Innovation District Initiative. “We want to highlight the innovative talent that is working here. BigBelly SolarFood Should Taste Good and other companies grew out of this ecosystem. We know many more just need the right push to turn them into key driver of the Massachusetts economy.”

The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the historic Saco-Pettee Mill Building located at 156 Oak Street, Newton, in the heart of the N2 Innovation District. It will be free and offers the public a chance to get a true sense of the innovation already happening in the area.

In addition to celebrating the work that students accomplish, it will also be an opportunity for area employers to recruit top talent. For sponsor and recruitment opportunities contact ctanowitz@nnchamber.com.
