‘Getting our transportation future right’

‘Getting our transportation future right’

The changing face of transportation will be in the spotlight when transportation entrepreneur Robin Chase addresses the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s annual Spring Business Breakfast on May 3.

The Spring Business Breakfast, presented by Eastern Bank, is one of the chamber's two major breakfast gatherings of business and civic leaders within our communities. Mike Kennealy, secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Baker Administration will also be speaking.

Chase is co-founder and former CEO of Zipcar, the largest carsharing company in the world; as well as co-founder of Veniam, a network company that moves terabytes of data between vehicles and the cloud.

Her recent book is “Peers Inc: How People and Platforms are Inventing the Collaborative Economy and Reinventing Capitalism.” Her current passion is working with cities to maximize the transformation possible with the introduction of self-driving cars.

The chamber will also be debuting a short video at the breakfast focused on how the region’s housing shortage is impacting employers’ ability to hire.

“Transportation and housing are two of our region’s top public policy challenges and are absolutely interconnected,” said Chamber President Greg Reibman.“There’s no way we can effectively combat either problem alone, which is why both topics are on the agenda for this event.”

The video was produced by Another Age Productions, an Emmy Award-winning production company specializing in the production of corporate videos, television commercials and creative original programs that was launched by Newton’s NewTV.

The Spring Business Breakfast, presented by Eastern Bank, takes place Friday May 3, 2019, 7:30 9:30 a.m. at the Needham Sheraton Hotel.
