Seven food trucks are now serving lunch in the Needham Crossing section of the N2 Innovation District starting, with additional vendors expected to operate in Wells Ave. in Newton by the summer.

“Employers and employees view food trucks as an added amenity in an area that already boasts many outstanding dining options, including those on Needham Street in Newton, Newton Highlands, Needham Heights and in downtown Needham,” said Chamber President Greg Reibman. “Combined, these services can benefit employee attraction, retention and productivity.”

Needham’s 2018 food truck program adds significantly to the food amenities of the N2 Innovation District. The program will see seven trucks a week spread across four days, from Tuesday to Friday, on two sites in the Needham Crossing section of the district. This represents a significant increase from the single truck that operated last year.

Trucks can be found from Tuesday to Friday starting at 11am on A Street and on Tuesdays and Fridays on 4th Avenue also at 11am. Needham launched its food truck program in 2017 with a single truck operating regularly on 4th Ave.

The Newton City Council recently approved food trucks for the Wells Ave. section of the N2 Innovation District. The city is now accepting applications for trucks interested in operating at Wells this summer.

The chamber has just completed a promotional video with Last Minute Productions which promotes brick and mortar dining in the N-Squared District area.

“When it comes to food amenities, we expect all ships will rise with the tide,” Reibman said. “The more variety and options our workers have, the more enthusiasm there will be for all dining options.”

The food trucks season will run through November.
