A foursome from Cambridge Savings Bank completed the tournament in first place at the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s 28th annual Children’s Charitable Golf Tournament, Aug. 5, at Woodland Golf Club. Placing second was a foursome from The Village Bank. A foursome hosted by Commodore Builders placed third by match of cards.
This year’s sold out tournament benefited Dream Big!, a Newton-based nonprofit that helps young women and girls from low-income situations by providing them with the basic items and fees to enable them to participate in sports and physical activities that contribute to their health, education and overall well-being. Founded in 2010, Dream Big! is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has impacted over 42,000 girls.
Wendy Aimola from Direct Federal Credit Union won the contest for Longest Drive for Women with Larry Ward from Babson College winning the Men’s Longest Drive. Tony Drago, won the Hit the Green Contest and donated his winnings, a for $100 gift card to The Capital Grille – to Dream Big. John Belcher of Pentair Pool Products was the winner of the 50/50 raffle and also donated a portion of his win back to nonprofit.
The Village Bank returned as the presenting sponsor of the tournament with additional support from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Needham, Showcase SuperLux, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Cambridge Savings Bank, One Wingate Way, TripAdvisor, Cataldo Ambulance Service, North Hill, DesCar Jewelry Design and Mark Development.
