CoachUp opens new office in the N-Squared Innovation District

CoachUp
, the nation’s leading private coaching company that is committed to helping athletes to reach the next level in sports and life, today officially opened its new offices in the N-Squared Innovation District with a Ribbon Cutting that included Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, supporters, friends and neighbors.

In moving to the N2 Innovation District, CoachUp joins a growing number of K-12-oriented companies located here, including the Russian School of Math, Boston Ballet School, Sheprd and the future home of Empow. While CoachUp connects coaches to athletes of all ages, its largest market is in the middle school and high school age range, and a large number of customers are in the Boston metro area.

“We like to get regular feedback from our users, and this area offers us better access to our audience than our previous location downtown,” said CoachUp CEO John Kelley. “Here in the N-Squared area, where we’re close to the T, Route-95 and the MassPike, we have great access to talent as well as a strong and supportive business community. We’re very fortunate to have found this space through Kathryn Ellis, director of economic development for the City of Newton. The location works well for our employees, and it allows us to have easy access to local walking paths for those nice weather days and numerous food options. The space itself is wonderfully managed by Haynes Management, and we’re excited for all the new relationships we’re developing within the community.”

“I am delighted to welcome Coach-Up to Newton. As a mother of three avid sports players, their business brings a great service to the residents of Newton, Greater Boston and major cities in the United States. Their innovative technology matches over 15,000 professional coaches with middle and high school athletes in 35 different sports,” said Mayor Fuller. “I'm pleased that Coach-Up finds Newton attractive in so many ways - from the moderate cost of office space, our convenient location to families and customers, and the positive commuting experience for their employees compared to their previous location in the Seaport.”

Located on the border between Newton and Needham, the N-Squared Innovation District is host to some of the nation’s top innovation-driven companies, including TripAdvisor, BigBelly Solar, Karyopharm, Cyberark, SharkNinja and a long list of others. Its location means that companies attract talent from around the Boston region, from New Hampshire to Rhode Island to Worcester. In addition, the area offers urban amenities as well as access to hiking trails, riverfront views and kayaking and canoeing.

“This is the kind of growth that gives the N-Squared Innovation District a unique position within the Boston innovation ecosystem,” said N-Squared Director Chuck Tanowitz. “Many of the companies here are in their growth stage with a significant number targeting the K through 12 space. The demographics here re perfect for experimenting with different business models and concepts that reach this audience.”

CoachUp’s new headquarters are located in the Echo Bridge Office Park at 397 Elliot Street in Newton, right on the banks of the Charles River.
