Chamber president to receive Housing Hero award

Greg Reibman

The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) has selected Charles River Regional Chamber President and CEO Greg Reibman as one of four recipients of this year’s Housing Hero award.

MHP will present the award at its Housing Institute training conference, June 13 in Worcester.

MHP is a statewide, nonprofit quasi-public organization that works in concert with the governor and the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities to increase the supply of affordable housing in Massachusetts.

The Housing Hero award honors individuals and communities for their hard work and unwavering commitment to supporting and furthering affordable housing.

“Reibman has become known as the voice that people will listen to,” MHP said in a statement. “He has built an exceptional level of support for housing, especially in the business community.

He’s been a strong voice, building the case for communities to take action to comply with Section 3A of the Zoning Act. A community organizer at heart, he has utilized his background in digital, print and broadcast media to help tell the story of why it’s important to allow room for growth in the state’s MBTA communities.”

“His efforts and relationships with news organizations, business groups and elected leaders have brought a range of individuals and groups on board to build the local case for housing more broadly in Newton, Needham, Watertown and Wellesley and throughout the Greater Boston area,” MHP added.

“I’m extremely grateful to the MPH team for this recognition,” Reibman said. “However, none of the success we’ve enjoyed in the housing fight -- and we’ve had success and setbacks -- happens without robust partnerships with housing advocates, environmentalists, municipal and state leaders, and the business community.   Successful advocacy requires a team. I’m honored to be in the trenches with so many smart and savvy collaborators.”

This year’s other recipients are Braintree Town Councilor Meredith Boericke, Abundant Housing Massachusetts, and the Town of Brewster.
