Boston Children’s Hospital is looking to open a satellite facility in the Needham Crossing section of the N2 Innovation District.

The proposed project, which was first reported by the Needham Times, would encompass two buildings at 380 First Avenue and 37 A Street next to the TripAdvisor’s headquarters.

A statement provided by Boston Children’s Hospital to the Times said the health provider will be working with the Needham’s Planning Board and welcomed the opportunity for feedback as it weighs expansion plans.

“We are exploring an opportunity to create an additional satellite facility in Needham,” the hospital’s statement said. “Our satellites have experienced substantial growth as we have shifted many services from our main hospital inpatient setting to convenient ambulatory and outpatient settings.”

Boston Children’s Hospital operates community pediatric hospitals in Lexington, Waltham, Peabody and North Dartmouth.

The Times article noted that Children’s would need a zoning change and permit for medical use in the business district.
