BID-Needham team wins chamber golf tournament


A foursome from Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham took home first place at the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s 27th Annual Children’s Charitable Golf Tournament, Aug. 6, at Woodland Golf Club.

Despite scorching temperatures in the upper 90s heat, the event featured 120 golfers to benefit Walker, Inc., a nonprofit with facilities in Needham and Watertown that provides services for over 1000 children, youth and families who are dealing with significant social-emotional, psychiatric, and behavioral issues due to having experienced multiple traumas often related to past abuse.

A foursome hosted by BNY Mellon Wealth Management took second place and a team from Direct Federal Credit Union placed third. All three teams had a scores of 54 with the winners determined by match of cards.

Kevin Teller from Cambridge Savings Bank also took home a winning title for the Longest Drive for Men along with Sue Pouliot from North Hill for the Longest Drive for Women.

The event concluded to with at the reception featuring food, drinks, a brief acknowledgement from Walker’s President Susan Getman and announcement of winners.

Beyond the contests, Stephen Colella, Senior Wealth Director at BNY Mellon Wealth Management and a brand-new chamber member was the lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle.But Colella donated his cash winnings to Walker, Inc.
