Baker-Polito Administration Welcomes Tim Connelly as Massachusetts Technology Collaborative Executive Director

Today the Baker-Polito Administration announced the appointment of Needham native, Timothy J. Connelly as Executive Director of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative. Connelly was most recently a General Partner at Brown Brothers Harriman, an international financial services firm. His appointment is effective immediately.

“Tim Connelly possesses deep experience as a manager of complex organizations, and as a leader in private sector technology adoption,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “MassTech is charged with executing our administration’s technology agenda, including extending broadband to rural communities, advancing the Commonwealth’s leadership in digital health, unlocking revolutionary new manufacturing technologies, and deepening regional technology clusters across Massachusetts. Tim’s leadership will ensure that we continue to deliver on these critical initiatives.”

“Our administration is deepening Massachusetts’s national leadership in innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito. “We look forward to partnering with Tim, as we continue growing technology employment, and connecting every region of Massachusetts to the innovation economy.”

“Tim’s past work in organizational innovation and global systems management combine to form a unique skill set that will serve MassTech, and the Commonwealth, well,” said Housing and Economic Development Secretary Jay Ash. “I am confident that Tim’s leadership, and the industry expertise of MassTech’s innovation, broadband, and e-health division heads, will combine to make MassTech an even more dynamic, and effective organization.”

“Tim’s leadership skills, experience in the technology-driven financial services sector, and commitment to social impact made him a superior candidate,” said Pamela D. A. Reeve, chair of MassTech’s Personnel and Governance Committee. “We look forward to partnering with Tim and all of MassTech to help the Commonwealth’s residents and businesses succeed in the complex modern economy.”

“I want MassTech to have a meaningful impact in building lasting, sustainable job growth in Massachusetts,” said Tim Connelly. “I look forward to collaborating closely with MassTech’s board of directors, and with members of our state’s broader technology community, as we work together to achieve lasting economic and social impact.”

Tim Connelly was most recently employed at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he spent 30 years working as a managing director, and as a General Partner. At Brown Brothers Harriman, he led service delivery enterprise, innovation and product support, and investor services units. He retired from the firm in December, 2014. He currently serves on the technology advisory board of BDO Consulting. He is a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, and chaired the United Way’s 2014-2015 development campaign.
