NCDF Welcomes Three New Members to Board of Directors

NEWTON, MA – September 2026 – Newton Community Development Foundation (NCDF) is pleased to announce the election of Kathryn Cooney, Judith Jacobson, and Joel Feinberg to its Board of Directors. The three new members bring a diverse range of professional expertise, community involvement, and perspectives that will support NCDF’s mission of providing and preserving affordable housing and strengthening the communities it serves.

Kathryn “Kate” Cooney brings extensive executive leadership, operations, and management experience to the NCDF Board, including senior leadership roles with Grand Circle Travel and Overseas Adventure Travel. A current NCDF resident, she brings a valuable resident perspective and a strong interest in resident services, community engagement, and property management. Kate looks forward to giving back to NCDF and supporting its commitment to affordable housing in Newton.

Judith “Judy” Jacobson brings decades of experience in affordable housing, community development, law, and public policy, including leadership roles with Preservation of Affordable Housing and the Massachusetts Housing Partnership. A longtime Newton community leader, she has served on the Newton Housing Partnership and Newton Community Preservation Committee, including as Chair. Her extensive affordable housing and legal expertise will be a valuable addition to the NCDF Board.

Joel Feinberg brings extensive experience in real estate law, affordable housing, and community development, having worked with nonprofit organizations, state agencies, lenders, and developers on complex housing and real estate transactions. He also served as Director of Real Estate Development for Worcester Common Ground and for six years on the Newton Community Preservation Committee, including two years as Chair. A longtime Newton resident, Joel looks forward to contributing his experience to NCDF and its continued work in affordable housing and community development.

NCDF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing and preserving affordable housing in Newton since 1968. NCDF owns and manages affordable housing communities throughout the city and provides resident services and programs that support residents and strengthen their communities. For nearly 60 years, NCDF has worked to expand and preserve affordable housing opportunities for individuals and families in Newton.
