The Wellesley Symphony Orchestra will perform our season opening concert this Sunday, Sept. 27 at 2 PM at MassBay Community College, 50 Oakland Street, Wellesley. The program opens with "Merlin" composed by Elisabetta Brusa, a contemporary Italian composer, followed by soloists Emmanuel Feldman, cello and Pascale Delache-Feldman, double bass, performing the virtuosic piece "Gran Duo Concertante" for violin and double bass by Giovanni Bottesini. Mr. Feldman will play the violin part on his cello. After intermission, the orchestra will present "Scheherazade", the beloved composition by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. This concert is dedicated to Jan Schwaner, a long-time cellist with the orchestra, who died suddenly on July 22, 2026.
