Historic Newton's House Tour

Historic Newton's House Tour

Event

Historic Newton’s annual Newton House Tour is back for its 41st year. On Sunday, May 19 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., tourgoers are invited to look inside remarkable historic properties not usually open to the public. Each was carefully selected to show historic preservation and creative adaptations. The tour’s lead sponsor is The Village Bank.

The self-guided tour includes a total of six properties, including a special tour of the Mary Baker Eddy House on Beacon Street. The oldest home dates back to the 1860s and the newest to 1906. Stops on the tour are in Newton Centre, West Newton, Newtonville, Newton Highlands, and Chestnut Hill.

Unique this year, Historic Newton is partnering with the Longyear Museum to provide House Tour guests with a guided tour of their recently renovated and restored property at 400 Beacon Street, owned by Mary Baker Eddy from 1908-1910. This is a sneak peek at the property as the museum will not be open to the public until June 14. Due to space constraints, guests will need to pre-register for this tour for an additional $10. Tickets may be purchased the day of onsite if they are still available. The grounds and the Carriage House, complete with a carriage owned by Mary Baker Eddy, are included in the standard tour for no additional cost.
