About
Founded by volunteers in 1989, Newton Community Pride (NCP) is a non-profit organization building community for all to enjoy through free and accessible arts and culture programming, public art, beautification and volunteerism. Our programs are funded solely through business sponsorships, individual donations and small grants. In addition to arts, culture & community programming, NCP produces local public art initiatives, distributes community micro grants and funds high school arts scholarships. Our largest grant recipient is the city of Newtonās Parks, Recreation & Culture Department.
NCP also acts as fiscal agent for event organizers and special projects that align with its mission such as Newton Open Studios, Newton Singers, FenceART & PorchFEST. NCP relies heavily on volunteers throughout the year for support. Some of our initiatives and seasonal events include The Linda Plaut Festival of the Arts, WinterFEST, the Fall Village Concert Series, springtime citywide public art projects, and caring for the award-winning gardens in Newton Center and Newton Highlands.
Newton Community Pride is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a thirteen-member board of directors led by Chair, Gloria Gavris. and staffed by Blair Lesser Sullivan, Executive Director.
