The part-time Massage Therapist will be responsible for providing massage services to clients to enhance their quality of life, and foster relaxation, healing, and stress reduction. The Massage Therapist will work closely with the Yoga Studio Manager and studio owners to complete the required duties as described below.

Responsibilities and Duties

The responsibilities and duties of the Massage Therapist include, but are not limited to:

  • Customer Relations
  • Design specific treatment plans based on deep listening and the client’s individual needs and identify which type of massage is to be used.
  • Perform 60-, 75-, and 90-minute massage treatments and offer wellness strategies in a professional way that results in client satisfaction and retention.
  • Maintain accurate treatment records and safeguard all personal information.
  • Ensure the massage treatment room is cleaned after each treatment and at the end of each shift.
  • Work with the Yoga Studio and Wellness Manager to create and implement a monthly marketing plan using social media, Constant Contact, flyers, newsletters, and other print media to increase new client acquisition, activation, and retention.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled instructor and practitioner meetings that include discussions about yoga studio and wellness trends, policy changes, timeliness, and any concerns that would need to be addressed to keep a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The Massage Therapist:

  • Will possess a valid Massachusetts massage therapy license.
  • Will have worked as a professional massage therapist for at least one (1) year. Those with two or more years may be considered for an elevated compensation package.
  • Must adhere to all Commonwealth of Massachusetts health and safety regulations.
  • Must carry liability insurance.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and Blue Lotus Healing Arts staff.
  • Must only ever treat all clients received through Blue Lotus Healing Arts at Blue Lotus Healing Arts, LLC.
  • Must be willing to continue to develop their own professional skills and knowledge.
  • Must be able to walk up a flight of stairs as the studio is located on the second floor and the building does not have elevators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training in multiple services including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Hot Stone, Hot Salt Crystals, Pre-Natal, Craniosacral, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Zero Balancing, Lomi Lomi, Thai, Abhyanga, Shirodhara.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism demonstrated through telephone, in-person, and written communications.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and maturity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google apps (Doc, Groups, Calendar).
  • Proficiency with MindBody, Facebook, Constant Contact, and Instagram.

Additional Information:

  • Position status: Part-time
  • Location: Blue Lotus Healing Arts in Needham, MA
  • Hours: 5-20 hours per week in the studio; flexible schedule
  • Schedule: 2-3 shifts per week: One 8 am - 2 pm shift; one 2 pm - 8 pm shift; and one weekend shift of either am or pm hours.
  • Compensation: Commission-based starting at 45% with the potential to increase. $45.00-$60.75 per session plus tips and bonus potential.
