Annual Transportation Forum With MBTA General Manager Phil Eng
Annual Transportation Forum With MBTA General Manager Phil Eng
Tuesday, June 17, 2025 (1:00 PM - 2:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
Join us for a conversation with MBTA General Manager Phil Eng, followed by a panel discussion exploring what it takes to sustain and grow a stronger transit system.
Eng will share progress he and his team have made in turning the T around, including significant strides in eliminating slow zones, orders of new electric commuter rail trains, and bus network redesigns, particularly as it relates to our chamber communities.
Following Eng, Luc Schuster, executive director of Boston Indicators, will present findings from a recent report highlighting how most communities in greater Boston, especially ours, are failing to build the kind of density needed to support transit.
Shuster will be joined by Jarred Johnson, coauthor of the report and former executive director of TransitMatters, and Amy Dain, zoning expert, senior fellow at Boston Indicators, and a member of Newton’s Planning & Development Board.
Together, they’ll explore how smart residential and commercial density can strengthen not only our economy but our public transit system.
