Tanya Mathis is the founder of CompassED College Advising and a Student Success professional who helps students and families navigate important educational and career decisions with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Drawing on 25+ years of leadership experience in marketing, project management, and relationship management in the corporate world, she combines strategic planning with personalized coaching to help students identify colleges where they will thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Tanya believes college planning is about far more than gaining admission to a particular institution. It is about helping students better understand themselves, make informed decisions, and develop the confidence and resilience needed to succeed in college and beyond. She works closely with families to bring structure, perspective, and a thoughtful strategy to what can often feel like an overwhelming process.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and Boston University, Tanya completed her UCLA Graduate Extension's College Counseling Certificate with distinction in September. Tanya gives of her time as a BU Connect mentor and a college advising volunteer with ScholarMatch; supporting underserved, first generation students pursuing higher education. Her career leading complex initiatives and mentoring professionals has shaped an advising style that is organized, collaborative, and highly individualized.
